The 10U Naturals won the Arkansas USFA “C” division State Championship 2-1 in an all-time pitchers duel. Tied 0-0, the game headed into extra innings, with the “International Tie Breaker” rule in effect. Both teams scored once in the first extra frame, but in the top of the 7th, Amie Davis knocked in Abbey Kindall with a triple to center field.
Andie Priest came back out to the mound to shut down the Wild Thangs, which is what she’d done all day. Her final stat line was 7 IP, 1 hit, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. She got an assist from her catcher, Kindall, who gunned down a runner attempting to steal third for the last out of the game.
Honorable Mentions
The Hit Dawgs won the 16U Slumpbuster Championship in Omaha 4-2 over the KC Warriors. After advancing from their pool as the second seed, they won all four elimination games to take the tournament. Tyler Godes pitched a complete game for the win and Ty Denzer scored three runs to spark the offense.
The 10U Needham Rockets won their Easton Tournament yesterday going 6-0 for the tournament. They won the Championship game over Rehoboth 11-1 with 11 QAB’s in only 4 innings. Jeffrey Hohler picked up the complete game win with 6 strikeouts.
