Shot Charts

Shot Charts are a great representation of shooting volume, or where a player takes the most shots from on the floor. All of this data is automatically captured when you use the GameChanger scorekeeping app during the game.

Where do you want players to shoot from? Well, in basketball, every foot you move away from the basket generally leads to a decrease in FG%. You want to take as many shots as possible from close to the basket, because those shots are worth the same amount as a jumper from 15ft that has a lower chance of going in. Plus, shooting from close to the basket generally leads to more free throws as well.

But the 3-point line is an artificial boundary, where a 20 foot jumper becomes worth an additional point over a 19 foot shot, changes this dynamic. You can literally move 1 inch further from the basket and get an additional point for a make.

So you either want to take shots from as close to the basket as possible, or you want to make sure you’re taking 3pt shots. And shot charts can help you make sure your team is doing just that.

Shot Zones

Want to see where a player is most effective? This is where shooting zones come in. While shot charts are a great measure of volume, shooting zones are a measure of efficiency, letting you know where on the floor players are at their best.

Shooting zones break down a player’s FG% into seven zones. Some players are just better or more comfortable from one side of the floor or another. This information can be invaluable for a coach looking to maximize the performance of his players, as you can figure out which side of the floor to run plays on, and make sure that your players are taking shots from the right locations.

We’ve made it easier and more intuitive to schedule games online. Your schedule now shows up in chronological order, and can be sorted by Upcoming Events, Game Results, or the Full Schedule.

But even better is the addition of adding practices to the schedule. Now GameChanger can be your one-stop for all scheduling needs. There is no need to send parents an email every week with the updated schedule – parents and players can create a free GameChanger account and view your schedule.

And for both games and practices, you can add Arrival Times (Arrive 35 minutes before the game) and Notes (We’re playing on Field #4, Pitchers and catchers only) to better communicate with players, parents and fans.

Game Stats

Our most exciting upgrade is the inclusion of Game Stats within the GameChanger scorekeeping app. It’s easier than ever to figure out your pitcher’s WHIP or how many walks your team has drawn. Just tap the Stats tab for all the most important stats during the game.

Box Score PDF

When the game is done, we’ve made it easy to email the Box Score PDF to your league and local media as soon as you record the last out. Once the pitching decisions have been assigned or skipped, the post-game box score PDF link will appear. Tap the link to open it, and send an email using the send icon in the upper right hand corner of the PDF. Learn more about post-game box scores.

Lineup Card PDF

Not every team is on GameChanger, although more and more are joining every day. We’ve made it easier than ever to prepare for your game with Lineup Card PDFs that can be emailed or printed right from the app. Learn more about Lineup Cards.

Better design, for a better experience

We’ve updated the look and feel of our app in a variety of ways thanks to feedback from you, our users. The two biggest changes are better scoreboard visability, and an updated team navigation flow. Teams are now sorted by season, so there’s no reason to archive past teams.

Last week we released Version 3.7 of our iOS app. While we already wrote about what was new for Basketball, we haven’t yet talked about our new favorite feature: Game Replay.

You can now relive any game, from any previous season, with our animated GameStream in the app. Watch the entire GameStream from the beginning, or fast forward to the inning when your team had its big rally.

Game Replay is available to Team Admins and parents and fans with Premium Access. Not only is this great for parents who missed the game, but coaches can use it to remember every last detail.

How to watch a Game Replay::

1. Download the latest version of the GameChanger app for iOS
2. Login and find your team
3. Find the game you want to watch, and tap “View Game”
4. Tap “Replay Game” to start watching
