New Hotness on GameChanger.io

Fresh features focus on team and individual player statistics

By Calvin Kuo (@yoCalvin)

“New Hotness: Something that is young and fresh. The opposite of old and busted.”
- Urban Dictionary

It’s been a busy week at GameChanger headquarters, and we have several new website features to announce.

  1. Player Profiles
  2. Game Logs
  3. Spray Charts
  4. Season Stats Filtering by Game Type
  5. Season Stats Exporting
  6. Box Score Exporting
  7. Designated Hitter Assignment

Player Profiles

Click on a player’s name to view his/her GameChanger profile: jersey number, positions played, bats/throws, and current team. Players are listed on team homepages, rosters, season stats, and box scores. Player profiles also feature Game Logs and Spray Charts (read on!).

Game Logs

Each player profile also has a Game Log section. Individual player statistics for each game played (batting and pitching) are found here, as well as links to pertinent box scores.

Spray Charts

The GameChanger scorekeeping application has always allowed the scorekeeper to track where each hit ball ends up.

Now you can view a player’s hitting tendencies online. The GameChanger spray chart currently shows:

  • Hits
  • Outs
  • Fly balls
  • Line drives
  • Ground balls

Take a look for yourself. New visitors will need to register before viewing game logs and spray charts.

Season Stats filtering by Game Type

We received a ton of great feedback regarding the need to filter a team’s season statistics by game type. In response, we created four basic game types: Exhibition, Non-League, League, and Postseason.

Season-to-date statistics can be viewed by:

  • All Games (including Exhibition)
  • Regular Season (excluding Exhibition)
  • Qualifying Games (excluding Exhibition and Postseason)
  • specific Game Type

* Coming very soon: filtering stats by date — so you can target that weekend tourney, the District playoffs, or the month of April.

Season Stats Exporting

Some managers evaluate their players using proprietary formulas calculated from basic statistics. Others just want a backup copy on their local hard drive. GameChanger now offers season-to-date exporting into comma-separated (.csv) file format. Look for the Excel icon on Season Stats.

Box Score Exporting

Managers of teams in the “Prep” category (Middle/High School) can download their GameChanger box score stats into a file formatted for upload into MaxPreps.

DH Assignment using online web Lineup Editor

Managers are no longer constrained to setting a DH on the scorekeeping application. Assignment of a Designated Hitter can now be done online. Step-by-step directions are available directly on the Lineup Editor page.

Keep It Coming

As always, coaches and fans may explore GameChanger’s features and find immediate answers to pressing questions on GameChanger.io, and contribute their feature ideas via our Feedback Forum.
